The growth and success of Raise Your Kundalini is, in large part, thanks to the overwhelming response to those who have volunteered their time and talent. We acknowledge and appreciate each individual who has dedicated and practiced selfless service, known as “seva” to Raise Your Kundalini. As a yoga community, we have done much, in solidarity, to accomplisha a great deal but there is more to do. There is always something that requires attention so that we can provide the first and very best Kundalini Community Center in Las Vegas. AND YOU CAN BE A PART OF IT!

We thank and encourage those who wish to continue serving their seva with the Raise Your Kundalini Center, and welcome new volunteers as well to be part of our family.

We still have positions available where your time and talent will be highly valued and greatly appreciated by the Raise Your Kundalini Center and its students.

Seva can be performed in many ways by offering your time and talent that will assist our center and growing yoga community. We ask that whatever form you wish to perform your seva that it is given purely and whole-heartedly as it is not a requirement. We want you to perform this selfless service in a way that works for you and is within your area of interest and ability.

What is Seva

There are also many benefits to seva. You meet new people, create new contacts, and can even broaden your personal and professional networks. In many cases, seva allows you to develop social skills by associating with diverse groups of people. Serving others inherently improves your mood and self esteem. When you recognize that you can make a difference in another person’s life, you make a difference in your own.

Seva can be as simple as conveying a warm and friendly smile or as involved as becoming a life coach. It can be assisting someone that is in need of the talents you already possess or giving time by performing some task you have had no previous experience. It can involve cooking or cleaning, fixing or maintaining, educating or just giving someone a little encouragement. Regardless, if you help one person or countless people, the positive effects reverberate over the course of time and space. You become part of the Divine that gives! Instead of looking for a miracle, you become a miracle.

We encourage all students to practice seva in a healthful and responsible way so as not to cause any undue burden that would interfere with the nature of seva and its intended purpose.

An Approach to Seva, an online article, by Sannyasi Ratnashshakti, explains the translation of seva:

Seva yoga is usually described as service, but this word does not quite capture the essence of seva. Swami Niranjan has explained that the word seva is made up of two words, ‘saha’ and ‘eva’. Saha means ‘with that’ and eva means ‘too’. The word seva means ‘together with’ and is describing those actions that seek collective upliftment through an understanding of the needs of others and are based on togetherness and integration. Seva is an expression of compassion, of the desire to uplift and assist people.
