Yoga Teacher

Audrey’s journey began when looking for self defense classes, after moving to downtown Chicago in 1994, with the discovery of Shaolin Kung Fu. This martial art is a soft style where meditation and breath is the basis of the practice. She felt the calling to stay connected to the meditation and continued with martial arts for many years. She achieved the status of Brown Sash under renowned Shaolin Kung Fu Master Tsai. She then began teaching Kung Fu under his direction and taught for many years.

Just before the turn of the century, in 1999, Audrey took her first yoga course as a college elective during her studies at Columbia College of Chicago, where she earned her BA in Commercial Photography. This intensive B. K. S. Iyengar course was a semester long and she quickly learned that martial arts and yoga had linear qualities for meditation and healing, while connecting the body, mind, and spirit. Once the course was completed Audrey continued as a yoga student in Chicago, studying under many different teachers throughout the city. She eventually found her home at the infamous Moksha Yoga Center, in the heart of Chicago. After some time, she was accepted into a two-year work/study program (2007-2009).

It wasn’t until 2012 that Audrey became a certified yoga instructor in Vinyasa and Yin Yoga at Core Power Yoga in Chicago (RYS 200). She began teaching yoga immediately following her certification and has been teaching ever since. Audrey is a certified E-RYT200 Yoga Alliance Instructor. She has taken many continuing education courses, including courses in Ayurveda, Hatha, Restorative, and Aerial yoga. She also took part in a 6-month intensive 200 hr. teacher training at Epidavros Wellness Center, just outside of Portland, with Tara McGuire.

Most recently, Audrey became a certified Reiki Level 1 natural healer under Cosmin Mahadev Singh.

Audrey considers herself first and foremost a student, always looking to learn and grow within her yoga practice. As an instructor, she looks forward to providing a space of authentic compassion wherein her students will grow and learn along with her as their yoga journeys’ unfold.
