Audrey Tarris has a long history of studying and teaching body movement, with discovering martial arts in 1994 and yoga in 1999. She initially gravitated more towards martial arts and achieved the status of Brown Sash under renowned Shaolin Kung Fu Master Tsai. She began teaching Kung Fu under his direction in 2005 and taught for many years, until yoga started to become more of a presence in her life.
Being a migraine sufferer since childhood, Audrey Tarris is no stranger to chronic pain and the anxiety and depression that comes along with it. She noticed remarkable relief with a regular meditation, yoga, and pranayama practice; finding that the mind-body-spirit connection, along with the support and self‐healing qualities that yoga provides, to be truly life changing. Her transformation in wellness began her new journey of becoming a yoga instructor. After being accepted into a two-year work/study program at the infamous Moksha Yoga Center, in the heart of Chicago (2007-2009), Audrey was well on her way.
Audrey Tarris became a certified yoga instructor in 2012 (RYS 200). She has been teaching yoga since that time, and now specializes in Vinyasa, Yin, Gentle, Hatha, and Restorative Yoga. Furthermore, she most recently became certified in Ariel Yoga at Epidavros Wellness Center, just outside of Portland, where she also took part in a 6-month intensive 200 hr. teacher training with Tara McGuire.
Audrey considers herself first and foremost a student, always looking to learn and grow within her yoga practice. As an instructor, she looks forward to providing a space of authentic compassion wherein her students will grow and learn along with her as their yoga journeys’ unfold.
